About Comber Street Reserve

Dogs at Comber Street Reserve

Comber Street Reserve welcomes dogs, and Woollahra Council has stated that dogs will continue to be welcome there. Dog owners use the reserve often, and that use wore down the grass at the back of the park. The upgrade replaced the worn grass at the back with brick pavers and laid new turf at the front. The design keeps clear sightlines from the street, so dogs and their owners stay visible from Comber Street.

Seating and Shade at Comber Street Reserve

The pergola is the central gathering spot at Comber Street Reserve for picnics and lunch breaks, and double-brick planter edges at the rear give extra bench seating. An existing tree at the back of the reserve provides significant shade on that side. A wrought iron railing and sandstone wall frame the front, and new raised planter beds on the northern side and front add greenery. A new raised planter also separates the grass from the pergola.

Informal Play at Comber Street Reserve

Comber Street Reserve has no formal playground, because Woollahra Council found the reserve too small to fit one. Informal play is allowed, and a chalk-drawn one-on-one handball court may be possible on site. Space for adding play elements is limited, and the hopscotch and chalk drawing in an earlier draft plan were removed from the final design. The reserve suits casual, low-space activities for children living nearby.
