📍 Woolloomooloo, NSW 2011
Cook and Phillip Park is a public park in Woolloomooloo whose grass lawns are an off-leash dog area at all times. It also has a children's playground, a free basketball court, water features and an indoor aquatic and fitness centre with a 50-metre pool.
Off-Leash Dog Area at Cook and Phillip Park
Cook and Phillip Park has large grassy lawns that are off-leash all day, every day, so dogs can run freely. A separate small dog area includes agility equipment. Cook and Phillip Park provides drinking water for dogs and poo bags for owners. Dogs are prohibited from the playground and the pool, so owners need to keep them out of both areas at all times.
Aquatic and Fitness Centre at Cook and Phillip Park
Cook and Phillip Park has an indoor aquatic and fitness centre with three heated pools: a 50-metre pool, a leisure pool with a slide and a wave pool, and a hydrotherapy pool. The centre has a gymnasium, change rooms and showers, and it offers swimming lessons. Its indoor court is used for basketball and indoor soccer. Eight paintings by Wendy Sharpe on the walls of the 50-metre pool depict the life of swimmer Annette Kellerman. The centre opened in 1999 and was renovated from around 2006 at a cost of around $10 million, finishing in 2007.
