Cook and Phillip Park has large grassy lawns that are off-leash all day, every day, so dogs can run freely. A separate small dog area includes agility equipment. Cook and Phillip Park provides drinking water for dogs and poo bags for owners. Dogs are prohibited from the playground and the pool, so owners need to keep them out of both areas at all times.

Eight paintings by Wendy Sharpe on the walls of the 50-metre pool depict the life of swimmer Annette Kellerman. The centre opened in 1999 and was renovated from around 2006 at a cost of around $10 million, finishing in 2007.
