Inner West Council upgraded the Tom Kenny Reserve playground under its 2024-25 capital works program, choosing the site because the old equipment was aged and in deteriorated condition. The council removed all existing equipment and soft-fall before installing new inclusive equipment and play spaces. The finished playground was officially opened on Saturday 21 June 2025. Tom Kenny Reserve is classed by the council as a neighbourhood park and sits within the Marrickville-Midjuburi ward.
