About Jack Shanahan Park

Skate Area at Jack Shanahan Park

Jack Shanahan Park has a skate area that was described as big and varied when the park reopened in April 2014. The council turned a deteriorated half-size basketball court into a learning area for younger or inexperienced skaters, which sits apart from the main skate sections. Concrete benches line the edges of the newest skate sections, giving spectators a place to watch skateboard, BMX and scooter riders.

Picnic Kiosk and BBQ at Jack Shanahan Park

Jack Shanahan Park has a picnic kiosk in the centre of the reserve, and the kiosk includes a barbeque. New picnic tables are set around the kiosk for outdoor meals. The reserve has garden beds planted with native grasses, and Pin Oaks around the kiosk and along the paths shade the picnic spot. Concrete paths, some of them re-laid, lead through the reserve to the kiosk and tables.
