About Lovedale Place
Heritage of Lovedale Place
Lovedale Place takes its name from Miss Love, who lived in a house called Lovedale and ran an early school in Concord. The park sits within the heritage setting of the Yaralla Estate, and the hospital precinct around Concord Hospital now surrounds it. Lovedale Place therefore links the suburb's early education history with the estate's past and with its present-day role as a restored public space.
Wetland Regeneration at Lovedale Place
Lovedale Place has wetland regeneration as its listed standout feature. The site served as a temporary car park during the COVID-19 pandemic and is now being restored into a vibrant green space. A small garden planted beside the old parking area before it closed gives the restoration existing greenery to build on. City of Canada Bay has run community tree planting at Lovedale Place, where residents help plant the trees and shrubs of the restored landscape.
