📍 Kurnell, NSW 2231
Silver Beach Reserve is a beachfront reserve on Silver Beach in Kurnell, on the south coast of Botany Bay. Its most notable feature is an off-leash dog area between the third and fourth rock groynes at the western end of the beach. The reserve also has a netted swimming area, picnic areas and bushland trails.
Off-Leash Dog Area at Silver Beach Reserve
The off-leash dog area at Silver Beach Reserve sits to the right of the Bonna Point Boat Ramp. Dogs must be on a leash when entering and leaving the area, and owners must clean up after them. Dogs declared dangerous or menacing by Council, and restricted breeds, are not permitted. Dogs are prohibited everywhere else on Silver Beach, so this is the only stretch of sand where dogs are allowed.
Swimming and Fishing at Silver Beach Reserve
Silver Beach Reserve has a netted swimming area at the centre of the beach's strip, and the swimming area is not patrolled. Fishing is permitted, and bream, trevally and flathead are the most predominant fish in the bay. A boat ramp sits at the western end of the reserve, held against the fourth groyne. Whale watching is one of the activities at the reserve during the appropriate season.
