About Grantham Heritage Park
Poultry Research History at Grantham Heritage Park
Grantham Heritage Park occupies the former Grantham Poultry Research Station, where NSW poultry work was carried out for over 70 years. The site was listed on the NSW State Heritage Register on 7 April 2000. A wooden Bachelors' Barracks once stood on the grounds and housed returned servicemen who trained in poultry farming under the Returned Soldier Settlement Scheme. Interpretation signage at Grantham Heritage Park explains this history to visitors.
War Memorial at Grantham Heritage Park
Grantham Heritage Park contains a war memorial built in 1998 and dedicated on 11 November 1998. Simon Alexander Cook designed the memorial as a timber frame on a ceramic tiled plinth, shaped as two door frames. The door frames represent exit from the theatre of war and re-entry to life in Australia. The inscription reads 'In memory of those who served the nation of Australia in World War I and beyond.' The Department of Veteran Affairs and the Seven Hills-Toongabbie R.S.L. Sub-Branch were among those who commemorated the memorial.
