About Donnelly Park

Sailing, Boating and Fishing at Donnelly Park

Donnelly Park has been home to the Connells Point Sailing Club since the mid 1960s. The club races on Saturdays from 2pm between September and April and runs Learn to Sail courses. The park has a public boat ramp and a public pontoon at the end of the wharf, and its jetty was upgraded for $264,000 with joint funding from NSW Boating. The 1st Kyle Bay Sea Scouts also use the ramp and jetty. Anglers fish from the wharf for bream, flathead and snapper, and the Georges River suits water sports.

Playground, Basketball and Open Lawn at Donnelly Park

Donnelly Park has a sailing-themed playground with a see-saw, a mini spider web, a swing set and a slippery-dip. The park also has a sealed basketball half-court for a friendly game of shooting hoops. An open grassed area along the foreshore is used for informal games, sport training and social gatherings, and the park hosts events such as markets and drive-in films.

Foreshore Protection Project at Donnelly Park

Donnelly Park is part of the $2.4 million Donnelly Park Foreshore Protection and Environmental Enhancement project, supported by the NSW Government's Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. The works include repairing the ageing sandstone block seawall, new seating, landscaping, an intertidal habitat, saltmarsh planting and low native grasses and shrubs. A new two-metre wide pedestrian path and a lookout over the Georges River are planned, while the existing pontoon, jetty and boat ramps will be retained.
