About Memory Reserve
War Memorial at Memory Reserve
Memory Reserve was set aside in 1950 for a war memorial, so the memorial is the reason the park exists. The memorial is a sandstone block carrying a red granite plaque. It sits in the middle of the roadside reserve under large trees. A memorial cairn and flagpole stand in the centre of Memory Reserve and form its focal point. Memory Reserve was the only park in Sydenham until Sydenham Green was established, making it one of the suburb's older public spaces.
