About Phoenix Park

Off-Leash Dog Area at Phoenix Park

Lower Phoenix Park, the dog area at Phoenix Park, is a small space near apartment buildings, so noise from the surrounding area can be noticeable. A double-gated entry gives owners a controlled way in and out, and the lighting lets dogs keep running into the evening. The grass near the gates has worn down to dirt, and the whole area turns boggy and muddy after rain, leaving uneven ground underfoot in wet weather.

Playground at Phoenix Park

The playground at Phoenix Park is built around a large rope net. Its equipment includes a birds-nest swing, a slide under shade cloth, a rock climbing feature, a climbing net and imagination play pieces, all over soft-fall surfacing. The Wangal Wall artwork forms part of the play area, in keeping with the artist-inspired, colourful design of the park, which opened in January 2016. The play area itself has no shade.

Picnics and BBQs at Phoenix Park

Phoenix Park has BBQ facilities and picnic areas set among open lawns, giving families and groups room to spread out for an outdoor meal close to the playground. Walking and cycling paths run through Phoenix Park, and the riverbank offers an easy walk before or after a picnic. Toilets are located near the playground stairs and walkways, a short distance from the BBQ and picnic areas.
