About Richard Murden Reserve

Gulgadya Playground and Picnic Areas at Richard Murden Reserve

Richard Murden Reserve has the Gulgadya playground, an inclusive and accessible play space that the council designed for the reserve. No booking is needed to use it. The picnic tables around the playground work the same way: they cannot be reserved, so groups share them with other visitors. The open green areas look out over the water, giving picnics a scenic setting.

Tennis and Netball Courts at Richard Murden Reserve

Richard Murden Reserve has 4 tennis courts, 6 netball courts and multi-purpose basketball and netball courts. The tennis and multi-purpose courts are free for casual use from 8am to 10pm without a booking. When others are waiting, play is limited to 1 hour. From 1 March to 30 September, sporting clubs hire the netball and multi-purpose courts between 4pm and 9pm, so they are closed to the public then. Lights on the multi-purpose courts come on automatically all year, while netball clubs operate the netball court lighting.

Fitness Course and Natural Area at Richard Murden Reserve

Richard Murden Reserve has an outdoor fitness course for open-air exercise and a natural area of estuarine swamp oak forest. The Bay Ride cycle path connects to the reserve and gives cyclists a route with water views. Riders can combine a stretch of the Bay Ride with a session on the fitness course and a look at the swamp oak forest, all within the one reserve.
