Owners must supervise their dogs at all times, keep them under voice control, pick up waste and bring no more than four dogs each. Restricted and dangerous breeds are not allowed. Outside the fenced area, dogs must stay on a leash everywhere in the reserve.

A learn-to-ride bike track sits next to the playground and teaches children cycling skills and road safety in a controlled setting. Coolong Reserve has six netball courts: the four eastern courts have lighting for night games, and the two western courts are used for training.
