Fred Caterson Reserve is a 58-hectare sports and recreation reserve in Castle Hill. Its most notable feature is five soccer fields that convert into three cricket fields, and it also has ten tennis courts, a four-court basketball stadium, a BMX track, a junior playground and three walking trails through bushland.
Sports Fields and Courts at Fred Caterson Reserve
Fred Caterson Reserve has five soccer fields that can be converted into three cricket fields, with four-lane synthetic cricket practice nets beside Field 4. The reserve also contains a dedicated baseball field. Castle Hill Tennis Academy runs ten synthetic grass tennis courts inside the reserve, and The Hills Basketball Centre has four full-sized courts with tiered seating for more than 1,000 spectators. A BMX track and a remote control car track round out the facilities, which serve both competitive and recreational sport.
Walking Trails at Fred Caterson Reserve
Fred Caterson Reserve has three walking trails. The Castle Hill Trail is an easy 6.3 km route over fire trails and rocky bush tracks, passing through shaded gullies rich in birdlife. The Geebung Walk is an easy 3.4 km walk through parkland and bushland. The Knightsbridge Circuit is a moderate 4.9 km trail through bushland corridors between Castle Hill and Glenhaven, with ferny gullies and wildflowers along the way. Concrete pathways, bush tracks and an extensive cycleway network also suit walking, running and cycling.
