About Mountain Street Reserve
Upgrade Works at Mountain Street Reserve
The City of Sydney upgrade at Mountain Street Reserve, with works from January 2026, is part of the council's ongoing park renewal program. Feedback received in early 2025 on a concept design shaped the plan. The works build new pathways, upgrade the existing ones and add lighting on the main paths. Retaining walls are rebuilt and new ones added, and the upgrade also brings new seats, a new rubbish bin and a relocated park sign.
Trees and Planting at Mountain Street Reserve
Mountain Street Reserve keeps its mature trees, which are retained and protected through the upgrade. Two damaged trees are being replaced with four new trees. Garden beds with more plants and native planting are added throughout the reserve, and low hoop fencing marks out the new planting areas. Together, the mature trees and native planting give the park a green, shaded character.
Seating and Picnics at Mountain Street Reserve
Mountain Street Reserve has seating along its paths and covered spaces that give visitors shelter from the weather. Grassy slopes and gardens suit relaxing and picnics, so visitors can spread out on the lawn as well as use the seats. Locals mostly use the reserve, and it becomes a gathering point during local events and festivals. The reserve is easy to access, and its upgraded paths keep the seating areas connected.
