About Alcheringa Reserve
Playground at Alcheringa Reserve
Alcheringa Reserve has a playground that was fully renewed with new play equipment, fresh softfall underfoot, seating and shade trees. The playground has a slide for children, and the renewal placed a seat and a bin right beside it. Alcheringa Reserve also has a bubbler and a water station near the play area, so drinking water is on hand without leaving the reserve.
Planned Off-Leash Dog Area at Alcheringa Reserve
Sutherland Shire Council planned a fenced off-leash dog area of about 7,000 square metres at Alcheringa Reserve as part of its upgrade, set away from nearby homes, the playground, a riparian corridor, a conservation area and the scout hall. Councillors then asked staff to report on removing the dog park from the works. That report found the upgrade could go ahead without it, and Burraneer Park was being reconsidered as an alternative site.
