History of Austin Park
Austin Park was designed as a children's playground and was the first park dedicated by the former Homebush Council. In 1928, the council resolved to name the playground Austin Park in memory of the late Alderman Edward Daniel Austin, a former mayor of Homebush Council who served in the terms 1914 to 1917, 1920 and 1925. The park was once known as Austin Playground.
