About Green Bans Park
Off-Leash Dog Access at Green Bans Park
Green Bans Park is off-leash for dogs at all times, and the park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which makes it one of the few City of Sydney parks with round-the-clock off-leash access. The playground is the only area where dogs are prohibited. Green Bans Park is unfenced, so there is no enclosed dog run, and owners need to keep dogs under control.
Playground at Green Bans Park
Green Bans Park has a small playground with swings and equipment for toddlers and younger children, suited to infants and pre-schoolers. The playground has seating, shaded areas, a netball practice hoop and a bark mulch play surface. It closed for upgrade works in October 2026, expected to take 3 months, weather permitting. The upgrade of the northern area brings a renewed playground, nature play areas, renewed gardens and turf, upgraded paths and new park furniture.
Tiled Frieze and Union History at Green Bans Park
The entrance pillars at Green Bans Park carry an 18-piece tiled frieze about community activism and the struggle to keep the parks. The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union joined the campaign and placed green bans on private development, and that action saved the two neighbouring parks, which is how they got their name. Green Bans Park is a quiet spot to sit and reflect on union history.
