About Elkington Park

Harbour Foreshore at Elkington Park

Elkington Park sits on the Balmain foreshore at White Horse Point, where views stretch across the harbour and river. The park includes the Dawn Fraser Baths and has water's edge access for swimming. A natural area of coastal sandstone foreshore forest lines the shore, and a historic 1936 band rotunda stands in the park. White Horse Point is linked to Captain Thunderbolt and Mary Ann Bugg in the park's romantic history, and the setting makes Elkington Park popular for outdoor wedding ceremonies.

Playground at Elkington Park

Elkington Park has a fully fenced playground that is toddler friendly and suitable for all abilities. The playground has sun shade and seats, and the park has tables and a shelter for a family meal. Toilets and disabled toilets are on site. Beyond the playground fence, lots of shaded areas across Elkington Park give children more room to run and play.

Weddings and Event Bookings at Elkington Park

Elkington Park needs a booking for casual events of 30 to 250 people, such as weddings, parties and picnics. Bookings go through Council's online booking system, and enquiries go to parkbookings@innerwest.nsw.gov.au. Wedding ceremonies of up to 120 people can run for a maximum of 3 hours and must be applied for at least 4 weeks ahead. Ceremonies and photographers are welcome, but receptions cannot be held in the park. Cancelling more than 7 days before the event refunds the booking fee minus a $50 cancellation fee.
